Things to do in Ottawa this Weekend! – beginning August 9, 2019

It’s a busy weekend in Ottawa, filled with great activities! Here is a list of activities happening in and around Ottawa this weekend, beginning August 9, 2019:

  • The Casino du Lac-Leamy Sound of Light firework displays begin this weekend! This Saturday, August 10 watch a pyrotechnic display put on by Chile. Following this, shows continue from other countries on Wednesdays and Saturdays until a Grand Finale on August 24. Great viewing areas for the Grand Finale of the fireworks competition are at the Canadian Museum of History and at the Bytown Museum.
  • Get your country on at the Festival Country du Grand Gatineau now until Sunday, August 11 at the Robert Guertin Arena with great country acts nightly!
  • This weekend is your last chance to see the World Press Photo 2019 at the Canadian War Museum, as the exhibition closes on Sunday, August 11. FREE!
  • Step into the future at the Casino’s special Futuristik Nights theme nights! Weekends until August 24, win fun tech prizes, enjoy late night snacks, and special themed games.
  • See Ottawa from a historic voyageur canoe with Rabaska Canada, who offers public tours Saturdays and Sundays until August 25!
  • Celebrate Indian culture at the Great India Festival this Friday, August 9 to Sunday, August 11 at Marion Dewar Plaza outside Ottawa City Hall! FREE!
  • Enjoy Ottawa’s finest garlic at the Perth Garlic Festival and Carp Garlic Festival, both on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11.
  • The Royal Air Force Red Arrows put on a special aerial performance over the Ottawa area on Tuesday, August 13!
  • Head to the National Arts Centre for Lunchtime Yoga on the Terrace, Fridays until the end of August. FREE!
  • Enjoy a boat cruise along the Ottawa River and Rideau Canal! Take a ride on Capital Cruises, Amphibus Lady Dive, or Paul’s Boat Line for scenic tours along the Ottawa River; and the Au feel de l’eau Aqua Taxi offers stunning views as it shuttles passengers between Ottawa and Gatineau. Cruise along the Rideau Canal on a Rideau Canal Cruise to learn the history of the canal and see the sights along the way!
